27 RESEARCHERS SELECTED FOR 
MASA POLICY DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH GRANT (MPDP) 2.0

For the second time, Institut Masa Depan Malayissia (MASA), in line with its role as one of the leading think tanks in high-impact research that contributes towards the country’s socioeconomic development, is offering the second cohort of MASA Policy Development Programme (MPDP 2.0).

MPDP 2.0 is a continuation of MPDP research grant which was first introduced in September 2021 and saw the submission of 30 research papers, with focus on problem-solving issues, crucial for national recovery and development. The researchers produced quality research output in situational poverty, education and sustainable city planning for B40 groups, inclusive regional development particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, social entrepreneurship model for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), potentials in green economy, food security and empowerment of the eco-tourism sector.

This year, a total of 27 MPDP 2.0 research proposals have been selected out of 254 proposals submitted by researchers from 29 local and private universities and institutions nationwide in research focus areas of climate change, food security, health system resiliency and preparedness for future crises, recovering learning loss, business acceleration, affordable housing and social protection.

The shortlisted MPDP 2.0 applicants have been approved and finalised by MASA Board of Trustees on 27 March, 2023. Those shortlisted are entitled to receive a research grant of RM10,000 for their respective policy briefs. Successful recipients are encouraged to publish their research reports in highly acclaimed journals and reputable publications, either locally or abroad.

MASA would like to congratulate all successful MPDP research grant applicants. It is hoped that all research output from MPDP 2.0 can further support MASA mission and vision as an independent think-tank towards the promotion of shared prosperity for the whole nation and the global community.
