PENAMPANG, 6 MAY: – The Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) (IDS) and Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (MASA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at fostering cooperation in various fields of research, community service and expertise sharing.
The signing of this MoU follows MASA’s courtesy visit to IDS in 2022 which paved the way for both parties to explore important areas of joint research in framing national policy inputs and development strategies towards shared prosperity.
The MoU was signed by IDS Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr. Ramzah Dambul, while MASA was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Encik Azril Mohd. Amin.
The signing ceremony, which took place at IDS Building, were witnessed by IDS Chief Operating Officer, Datin Hajah Hasnah Samsudin and MASA Head of Strategic Communications and Management Division, Puan Marhaini Kamaruddin.
An independent think tank, IDS has been assisting the Sabah State Government in tapping ideas and opinions as well as public policy analysis for the socioeconomic development of Sabah.
Meanwhile, MASA, an independent think tank that was established in 2019, brings together experts from government and academia to conduct research relevant to the socioeconomic development of the country, guided by shared prosperity values.
Through this collaboration, both parties will be conducting joint research activities, programs, conferences and networking sessions. Among these, one of the research topics is on the grassroots economy in Sabah.
It is hoped that through the signing of the MoU, efforts to better understand the socio-economic issues and challenges in Malaysia, especially in Sabah, can be achieved through joint research activities that will be carried out. This is also in line with the objectives of Sabah Maju Jaya 2021-2025.
