Bean Bag: A Discussion on Exploring the Enigma of Digital Security for Youth

Today, Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (MASA) Strategic Communications and Management Division Executives, Liwani Che Long and Muhammad Fadzil held a Bean Bag Sharing session, briefing fellow colleagues on the issue of digital safety among youth.

On August 27, 2024, both Liwani and Muhammad Fadzil together with MASA Research Analyst, Nur Zalikhaa’ Zainal Abidin attended the Roundtable Conference Programme (RTD) Series 2/2024 entitled “Keselamatan Digital : Enigma Anak Muda” organised by Institute For Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) at the National Sports Council of Malaysia, Bukit Jalil. The purpose of the RTD is to serve as a platform that could collect ideas, views and suggestions to raise the voices and aspirations of the youth regarding digital security issues, the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the influence of today’s social media.

The discussion highlighted the digital safety concerns and challenges faced by youth in Malaysia. With the support of the government and institutions, it is essential to recognise the need for increased digital literacy among the youth and to educate them on safe online practices, prevent cyberbullying, and safeguard their privacy in order to provide a safer digital environment for everyone.
