Bumiputera Research

With a commitment to contributing to high-impact socio-economic policy discussions in Malaysia, MASA has taken the initiative to develop a comprehensive framework for evaluating and strengthening the effectiveness of Bumiputera development policies. Through focused policy discourse and data-driven analysis, MASA strives to drive meaningful reforms in narrowing the economic gap and strengthening the Bumiputera development agenda.

This study aims to understand the economic situation of Bumiputera in six main dimensions: Education, Employment, Salary, Income, Business, and Ownership and Control of Wealth. These dimensions align with the main objectives of the New Economic Policy (NEP), which emphasizes participation in higher education, professional employment, business development, and wealth creation.

Building on this research, MASA has successfully produced a comprehensive report that outlines several key recommendations to strengthen the Bumiputera development agenda in a more inclusive and effective manner. Policy planning must ensure that benefits are enjoyed by the majority of Bumiputera, not just a select few. Increasing Bumiputera participation in strategic sectors, developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), access to quality education, and investments in rural areas need to be prioritized.
