Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (MASA) will be hosting #RuangTokoh: Constitution and Current Issues, a closed-door discussion session that explores the challenges and dynamics of the Malaysian Constitution in addressing contemporary issues.
As the nation’s foundational document, the Federal Constitution not only defines the rights of the people and the balance of power among the branches of government but also serves as a key reference in navigating changes in the political and social landscape. Its interpretation and implementation continue to be critical subjects of discussion to ensure stability and justice within the governance system.
This session will feature YBhg. Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun, former Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, and YBrs. Dato’ Dr. Marzuki Mohamad, MASA Board of Trustees Member, as panelists. The discussion will be moderated by YBrs. Encik Muhammad Harris Idaham Abdul Rashid, Chief Information Officer of Armada Bersatu Malaysia.
The discussion will cover issues such as the sovereignty of the Constitution and the role of the Monarchical Institution in the parliamentary democracy system, fundamental rights and individual freedoms within the legal context, Federal-State relations and the implications of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), as well as constitutional amendments and policy changes within the national legal framework.
